Missions
Summit Presbyterian Church’s mission ministries consist of local, national, international missions. These missions include: community meals, Stafford Emergency Relief through Volunteer Efforts (SERVE), Campus Christian Community at Mary Washington University, school supplies, White Gifts for Christmas, the Brisben Center, Stafford Junction, Autism Speaks, international missionaries, and Students Helping Honduras. If you feel so called, donate your time and talent to missions.
“Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I. Send me!'” Isaiah 6:8
Community Meal
Community Meal is a mission that was started in the early days of Summit’s presence in the Stafford community. It continues to serve meals once a month to local Stafford residents! Our team prepares, cooks and delivers meals on the 3rd Saturday of each month. Currently, there are 13 families ranging from 2 to 8 people per family. There have been as many as 83 meals prepared in one morning!
Many thanks to the dedicated workers who shop for, prepare, and deliver the meals each month. The team begins preparing and assembling these meals at 8:30 a.m. By 10:00 a.m., the meals are packed and ready for the drivers to deliver by 11:00 a.m. If you are interested in assisting, please contact Pat Rossell at 540-659-4288.
Christmas Holiday Assistance
Summit's White Gift program is a wonderful holiday mission in which Summit has been participating for many years. There are local families in need of assistance at the holiday season and each year, The Mission Team coordinates with Stafford County's Department of Social Services Holiday Assistance Program to provide gifts for local families. A Christmas tree is placed is placed in the church Narthex and decorated with tags indicating gifts requested by families. Members and friends of Summit choose a tag (or 2!) and purchase the items listed on the tags. Gifts are brought to church a on a designated date prior to Christmas. Mission Team members then deliver the gifts to the central location for the Holiday Assistance Program where families choose gifts for their children and elderly family members. Keep watch for announcements in November regarding this valuable community program.
